Beautiful small size Tufa cast sterling silver bracelet now available for purchase. This bracelet is created by two artist's husband and wife Nusie & George Henry. For whatever reason...George signed his name twice...is beyond me...Signed GNH in cursive and stamped sterling at inside of bracelet's opening, then also within the process of Tufa Casting signed GH. So we know his initials came first then including Nusie, his wife, in the GNH, later. These artists took Best of Class awards at the inter-tribal ceremonials in Gallup New Mexico. These artists have been working since 1978, so 42 years to date. Measurements are to me just confusing on almost all listings just numbers until you make sense of it. This bracelet tapers, at center measures 7/8"W then gently tapers at bracelet's opening to 5/8"W. Bracelet measures an amazing 1/16" thin throughout the bracelet. Beautiful oval turquoise stone measures 3/4"H x 1/2"W. Beautiful silver bezel measures 1/8"H. Stone sits up 1/8"H above top of bezel. Stone design sets the Turquoise stone 1/4" off the edge of the bracelet, adding interest to the piece.Measuring the inside of this bracelet it measures 6 1/8" measuring all the way around including the opening. Most sellers leave out the opening size which is ridiculous when you think of it. Why would you leave that out in the total measurement its all a part of it!The opening alone measures 1 1/4". The reason for giving you this measurement is so you can determine if you have any play in making this bracelet slightly larger or smaller in any way so it can fit you.To make sure this bracelet will fit you, you will need to first measure your wrist using a soft cloth tape measure, be sure and measure your wrist all the way around and yes you do "include" the opening for a bracelet. Here's how you measure your wrist: you hold the tape to measure your wrist size remember to hold the tape as tight or as loose as you would like your bracelet to fit. Hold it at the base of your wrist because that is where you will wear your bracelet. This will be your wrist size.Weight is 1.1oz. Due to this fact only one time this can be slightly adjusted no larger but smaller and only 1/2". After that you have to relax your wrist to put your bracelet on and off. When you put on and off in one place above the wrist bone and only thumb site off and on. Most small to medium bracelet's for that size of wrist generally speaking, bracelet's have a one inch opening. You need this size of opening to get the bracelet on and off. Some extra small wrists being the exception won't need a total inch.
Does sizing a Tufa cast bracelet really matter when it comes to opening or closing this bracelet to fit me?
Absolutely. The process of making a Tufa Cast bracelet is where the design itself is created in Lava Rock to where the extrusions you see within the bracelet are carved down into the lava stone then the silver is liquid and is poured into the stone then at the same time while still liquid getting the reverse side of lava rock done at the same time. When you look at this bracelet the design is different on each side and its done in Tufa Casting. You have to do this process to my knowledge in two separate castings...but you can't create this bracelet at two different times to my knowledge. I believe this particular bracelet is so amazing because most all Tufa Cast items I have ever have seen are all thick and heavy this bracelet is so thin... and so fine. That is what makes this bracelet so amazing. So I have to say in my over 30 years of selling Native American Jewelry and Art I have never seen another bracelet quite like it.Thin without being cheap or flimsy. One has to see it to believe it or to appreciate it. Very fine piece and now that I see it in person it's hard to believe it could even be created so beautifully.
