Acquired from a private collection this very interesting Navajo Bracelet created by Fred Harvey.
This bracelet is silver with two round pieces of turquoise and some lovely stampwork.
Indicative of Fred Harvey's bracelets were nice detailed stampwork including arrows and
whirling log designs such as repouss'e pounded designs from the back of the
bracelet extending through showing up on the top pf the bracelet and sides of the bracelet
that which can be see when looking at the back of the bracelet.
The bracelet designs were thought up by a non-Native Fred Harvey
and when trains would be built to go out west during the day,
weary travelers would look forward to stopping that night for a rest at a Fred Harvey Hotel,
eating good home cooked food at a Fred Harvey restaurant, and going to shop at a
Fred Harvey gift shop where he sold his Fred Harvey bracelets all handmade using the designs and
materials he provided artisans to create for his Hotels. This bracelet was one of his designs
made during that time. This bracelet measures 6 3/4" all the way around including the bracelet's opening.
Bracelet's opening alone measures 3/4". Bracelet tapers at center
measuring 1", tapering down to 1/4" at bracelet's opening.
Bracelet weighs .7 oz.
